The week of 18 September

For the second excessing we get interviews with different people. You can read them if you want.

Main subject is traveling.
We ask a 4 people what they are thinking about traveling in Finland.

Interview with Pia.
She is a teacher from the business academy.

The problem in her eyes for traveling is about Money. It can be a problem because public transport is not so cheap. It is very expensive.
An other problem is connections between different countries. The connection between Turku and Helsinki are very good from Salo but the connections with the other city’s is difficult

This problem is not only for exchange students and Finnish students. But a lot of people from different age want better connections with the train and bus. An option can be use the privet bus company or the carpool.  That is last cheaper for the most people. A lot of Finnish students use Facebook for the carpool.

An other option can be walking or bike. It is about the site of the city. Helsinki is very big but Salo is very small so than you can walk of use your one bike that is must cheaper.

*Some people have special discount but that is only when you use the train a lot and it is only for Finnish people. That is nice for them.

Interview with Emma.
She is an exchange student and she is coming from France.

All the kind of transport is very expensive even with the student card. The exchange students the have discount but is not so much as the Finnish students. For the most exchange students is the price very different form their home country.

The second problem is you can buy only one ticket with discount and one without discount. So when your friends are coming it is not possible to buy the ticket at the same time. You cannot have discount if you buy more tickets.

The only people who can change this system is the government.

Interview with Zoe.
She is an exchange student and she is comes from the Netherlands.

Everything is so expensive for example the train. The train is very expensive and the train is going one times in an hour. That is not so many. You cannot pay with a normal card only with a credit card. Than you need to buy ticket online of in the train. Than is it more expensive.

As exchange student you have discount but not so much. A Finnish student has more discount also in shops that is not fair.

A solution is very difficult because only the government can change the rules.

Interview with Reetta.
She is the coordinator from the international office.

It is very difficult to get the information about al the possibilities in different towns. An other problem is that no site is in English and if you ask somebody they don’t speak English. The most of the Finnish people can speak English but they are scared or it is about the attitude.

There is with the local bus. The information about the local bus is only in Finnish and you need to search very well because it is very difficult to find.

Most important is that they need to realist how important English is. They need to be realist how many people speak English and that it for somebody that the only language is that they can speak. It is very important when you talk about customer service than you need English.

If you need something in English you can search on Internet or in the library.
